Potable Water
Outer GRP Shell
UV-stabilised GRP provides structural integrity and protects the insulation core from sunlight, rain, and physical impact. Available in white or grey to reflect solar radiation.
PUF Insulation Core
Closed-cell polyurethane foam (PUF) achieves a thermal conductivity of 0.022–0.028 W/m·K — one of the lowest of any insulation material. It doesn't absorb water and doesn't compress under the GRP shell weight.
Inner GRP Shell
Food-grade GRP inner shell is NSF and WRAS certified for direct potable water contact. The smooth gelcoat surface resists biofilm and makes cleaning easier than concrete or steel alternatives.
Thermal Performance
50mm PUF reduces heat transfer by ~85%. 75mm achieves ~91%. 100mm achieves ~94%. On an Abu Dhabi rooftop at 48°C ambient, 75mm PUF held internal water temperature to 24°C over a 72-hour test period.

An insulated GRP tank has two GRP shells — inner and outer — with a layer of closed-cell polyurethane foam (PUF) injected between them. The PUF acts as a thermal break, drastically reducing heat transfer from the hot outer shell to the water inside. In UAE rooftop conditions, a 75mm PUF insulated tank can keep water below 25°C even when ambient temperatures reach 48°C.
In UAE summer (June–September), uninsulated rooftop water tanks regularly reach 50–60°C internally. At these temperatures, water is unsafe to use and creates ideal conditions for Legionella bacteria growth. Dubai Municipality and Abu Dhabi DM guidelines require cold water storage tanks to maintain water below 25°C. For hotels, hospitals, and food facilities, this is a mandatory compliance requirement — not optional.
Our insulated GRP tanks (75mm PUF standard) start from AED 3,800 for 3,000 gallons and go up to AED 18,500 for 15,000 gallons. The insulated version costs approximately 25–35% more than a standard GRP panel tank. Prices are ex-works — delivery and installation quoted separately. For villas and low-rise residential buildings with some shading, 50mm PUF is adequate. For exposed commercial rooftops in Dubai or Abu Dhabi, we recommend 75mm as a minimum — this is what most M&E consultants specify for hotels and mid-rise buildings. For hospitals, pharmaceutical facilities, and any application requiring water below 20°C, we specify 100mm PUF. If you're unsure, share your building type and rooftop exposure — we'll advise.
Yes. The PUF insulation is sandwiched between the two GRP shells and has no contact with stored water at any point. The inner shell is food-grade GRP with an NSF and WRAS certified gelcoat surface — the same as a standard GRP panel tank. The insulation does not leach chemicals into the water supply.
Underground installations generally don't require thermal insulation since ground temperatures in the UAE remain relatively stable at 25–28°C year-round. However, for applications where below-ground water must be kept below 20°C — such as chilled water buffer tanks or laboratory supply — we can manufacture underground-rated insulated GRP tanks with additional structural reinforcement for burial loading.
Insulated GRP tanks take slightly longer than standard tanks due to the additional outer cladding panels. A 5,000-gallon insulated tank typically takes one to one-and-a-half days on site. Larger tanks up to 15,000 gallons are generally complete within two days. We assemble the inner tank, inject PUF insulation between the walls, and fit the outer shell and cladding as a single on-site operation.
