Space-Saving Water Storage

Horizontal tanks maximize capacity in confined spaces. Ideal for plant rooms, basements, crawl spaces, and utility areas.

Fits Low Ceilings
Horizontal profile fits under low ceilings and into basement plant rooms where vertical tanks won't fit.
Easy Access
Low height means easier filling, draining, and maintenance without ladders or elevated platforms.
Stable Base
Wide footprint distributes weight evenly. No risk of tipping. Can be installed directly on floor.
Specification Vertical Tank Horizontal Tank
Ceiling Height Required 2.5–3m minimum 1.2–1.8m
Floor Space Used ~12m² (4×3m footprint) ~15m² (5×3m footprint)
Installation in Basement Difficult, may need cutting Straightforward, rolls to placement
Access for Maintenance Requires scaffold or ladder Simple ground-level access
Structural Support Needs reinforced floor or elevated base Sits safely on standard floor
Typical Installation Time 2–3 days 1–2 days
Price Premium +10–15% vs. vertical

Where Horizontal Tanks Fit Best

Residential Basements

Low ceilings in basements prevent vertical tank placement. Horizontal tanks utilize floor space efficiently for backup water supply.

Commercial Plant Rooms

Hotels and offices use horizontal tanks in mechanical rooms. Compact footprint leaves space for pumps, filters, and other equipment.

Utility & Storage Areas

Limited vertical space but adequate floor area. Horizontal tanks roll into place and sit flat without requiring wall support.

Factory & Workshop Floors

Industrial facilities use horizontal tanks on the floor without structural modifications. Easy to install and relocate if needed.

Temporary Water Supply

Construction sites and events need portable tanks. Horizontal tanks roll on their own or via forklift, set up quickly.

Crawl Spaces & Attics

Some facilities have confined crawl spaces. Horizontal tanks fit where traditional storage solutions won't, maximizing hidden capacity.

Horizontal Tank FAQs

No. Vertical and horizontal tanks have different structural designs. A vertical tank laid sideways will fail—the stress distribution is wrong, seams are at wrong angles, and inlet/outlet ports are misplaced. Always use tanks designed for their intended orientation.
Horizontal tanks have a drain valve at the lowest point. Open it and water flows out by gravity. No pump needed. For complete drainage, tilt the tank slightly or use a submersible pump for the last few inches.
1–2 days typically. We deliver, set in place (rolls or forklifts into position), connect inlet/outlet, pressure-test, and commission. Much faster than vertical tanks which require scaffolding and structural support.
Yes, but we recommend protection. GRP is UV-resistant, but outdoor placement in direct sun will eventually degrade the resin surface. A shade structure or cover extends tank life significantly.
They can be rolled during delivery if they have specialized cradle supports. Once placed, they sit stationary. For installation in tight spaces, we may use wooden skids and manual movement or a forklift to position them.
The top access hatch is large enough for manual entry. We recommend hiring professionals for deep cleaning every 5 years. High-pressure wash or diver inspection may be required for sediment buildup.
Capacity and physical dimensions. A 1,000-gallon tank is compact (3.5m long), while a 5,000-gallon is larger (6m long). Both fit under most ceilings (1.2–1.8m diameter). Choose based on your space constraints and daily water needs.
